Tourism club and Adventure club

Tourism in Kerala is going through a significant phase of growth and is considered as the major driver to the economic growth of the state. It is a multi-sector industry which provides both direct and indirect employment opportunities to people. As Kerala is a state blessed with natural resources like hill stations, beaches, waterfalls, forests etc, there is immense scope for development of tourism. The Department of Tourism, with the objective of launching a massive awareness campaign among the youth of Kerala decided to set up Tourism club across colleges and schools in the state. Tourism club of our college was started in the year 2002 with a view to tap potential of this industry. The aim of our club is to make students aware of the opportunities of the industry and also to make them responsible travelers. The activities of club always follow green protocol. Tourism club of our college is a place for anyone who loves to travel, explore and built their curiosity; a platform to share their travel stories. The club has 60 members from various departments. Every year as part of the world tourism day celebrations the club organizes various competitions like Essay writing, quiz, travelogue writing, photo exhibitions painting, poster Designing etc. The club also organizes an annual trekking camp which include adventure activities. Club also organizes seminars and group discussions. During November club conducts heritage week celebration which exhibited various cultural programmes like Mohiniyattom, classical music concert, Thiruvathira, cultural fashion show etc and food fest. The members of the club also participates various competitions conducted by Department of Tourism and DTPC. The activities of the club has helped to cultivate a right outlook towards tourism among the students.
