Sacred Heart College–Rajagiri Amala School Cycle Rally Promotes Drug-Free Society on Independence Day

As part of the Independence Day celebrations, Sacred Heart College, Thevara, in association with Rajagiri Amala CMI Public School, Vaikom, organised a cycle rally from Sacred Heart College to Vaikom to promote awareness against drug abuse and express solidarity with Operation Thoofan. The rally was flagged off at 6:00 AM by Rev. Fr. Tomy P. P., Vice Principal, Sacred Heart College. The National Flag was handed over to Rally Captain Rev. Fr. Joseph Kusumalayam CMI by Hon. Bini Mon, MLA, Vaikom, who also addressed the participants with a message highlighting the importance of collective action against drug abuse. A team of 22 cyclists covered approximately 60 km, travelling from Sacred Heart College to Vaikom. The journey included a visit to the historic Vaikom Satyagraha site and a boat journey, adding a cultural and historical dimension to the Independence Day initiative. At Vaikom, the Sacred Heart College team was warmly received by Sri. Bini Mon, MLA, Vaikom, at the Thanthai Periyar Memorial. The Independence Day celebrations organised by Rajagiri Amala CMI Public School featured a vibrant skating show and the energetic cycle rally, creating a memorable celebration of freedom, unity, patriotism and social responsibility. The programme brought together students and institutions in a shared commitment to building a healthier, drug-free society while commemorating the spirit of India's Independence.
