NPTEL Local Chapter
Final year UG and PG students are encouraged to take part in various courses offered by NPTEL (National Programme on Technology Enhanced Learning), which will either enhance the knowledge level in their areas of interest . NPTEL is a project of MHRD initiated by seven Indian Institutes of Technology (Bombay, Delhi, Kanpur, Kharagpur, Madras, Guwahati and Roorkee) along with the Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore in 2003, to provide quality education to anyone interested in learning from the IITs. NPTEL’s main goal was to create web and video courses in all major branches of engineering and physical sciences at the undergraduate and postgraduate levels and management courses at the postgraduate level.
Sacred Heart College became a NPTEL-local chapter (ID # 1275) in 2017 and since then we see a good number of students taking up the online certificate courses of their choice. In 2017-18 academic year only 5 students enrolled for the exams in which we had 1 overall topper. In 2018-19 academic year this number raised to 26 in which there were 3 national level toppers. In 2019-20 and 2020-21 academic year 49 and 19 students cleared the exams of which there were 2 national level toppers. Assistant Professor Dr. June Cyriac and Mrs. Anjitha K Nandanan had successfully completed the FDP program at NPTEL during the year 2019-20 and 2020-21 respectively. Assistant Prof. Princy Mol A. P was awarded the National Level top performing Mentor for the Jan-Dec 2020 Academic year.
The students who had appeared for the final exams were satisfied with the online platform offered by NPTEL.
