Cherai Mangrove Walk Promotes Environmental Awareness on Tourism Day
As part of Tourism Day observances, Tourism Club conducted Mangrove Walk at Cherai, Ernakulam, on 27 September 2026, organised by Rewild. The programme aimed to create awareness about mangrove ecosystem conservation and environmental sustainability through direct observation and experiential learning.
During the guided walk, students explored mangrove plants, trees and other organisms, learning about the role of mangroves in supporting biodiversity, maintaining ecological balance, protecting coastal areas from erosion and reducing the impact of floods and strong waves. The activity also highlighted the relationship between human activities and environmental conservation, encouraging responsible tourism, cleanliness and respect for natural habitats.
The programme aligned with SDG 13 – Climate Action, SDG 14 – Life Below Water and SDG 15 – Life on Land, making environmental learning practical and meaningful while fostering a sense of responsibility towards nature.
