Literatures of Crises: Reflections on Contemporary Philosophy and Literature
February 16–17, 2026
The Department of English proudly hosts the Rev. Dr. Dan Thottakkara Memorial National Seminar 2026 on February 16–17, 2026, centred on the theme “Literatures of Crises: Reflections on Contemporary Philosophy and Literature.” Instituted in 2000 in memory of Rev. Dr. Daniel Thottakkara CM—an eminent academic, visionary, and administrator—the seminar honours his enduring legacy of scholarship, leadership, and commitment to intellectual excellence. Supported by Rev. Dr. Thottakkara’s family, this annual academic gathering has evolved into a distinguished platform for engaging with frontier areas in literary studies and critical theory. Over the years, it has brought together scholars, researchers, and intellectuals from across the country, fostering meaningful dialogue and the exchange of innovative ideas. The 2026 edition continues this rich tradition by examining contemporary crises through the lens of philosophy and literature, encouraging critical reflection, interdisciplinary engagement, and dynamic scholarly conversations. The seminar not only commemorates the life and contributions of Rev. Dr. Thottakkara but also reaffirms the Department’s commitment to academic rigour, research excellence, and collaborative scholarship.
