Ms. Maria Jose is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Social Work, with a solid academic foundation and extensive interdisciplinary expertise across healthcare, education, and media. She holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in English with Journalism from S.B. College, Changanacherry; a Master of Social Work (MSW) specializing in Medical and Psychiatric Social Work from Kristu Jayanti (Deemed to be University), Bangalore; a Postgraduate Diploma in School Counselling; and is a Certified Couple Therapist.
Ms. Jose has contributed her professional skills in critical care counselling at Rainbow Children’s Hospital, providing essential psychosocial support to families during medical emergencies. In her role as School Counsellor at Marygiri Public School, she emphasized adolescent mental health, behavioural interventions, and comprehensive wellbeing initiatives. Her earlier tenure in media as a content writer with Hotstar and television presenter for Shalom TV and regional news channels enriched her communication and engagement abilities, which she applies effectively in both teaching and practice.
Her core academic and professional interests include trauma-informed care, family systems theory, adolescent mental health, and community-oriented psychosocial interventions. With her certification in Couple Therapy, Ms. Jose is deeply committed to advancing practical, interactive, and contextually relevant social work education for the development of future professionals.
