Dr. Joseph M.K is the Professor and Head of the Department of Social Work at Sacred Heart College (Autonomous), Thevara, Kochi, Kerala. He earned his Post Graduate degree in Social Work from Rajagiri College of Social Sciences, affiliated with Mahatma Gandhi University, Kottayam, and completed his PhD in Social Work from the same university in 2012. His doctoral research focused on “Village Milk Co-operatives in Kerala,” reflecting his deep commitment to community-based sustainable development.

Dr. Joseph’s expertise encompasses community development, social entrepreneurship, and sustainable livelihoods, with a specialized focus on fostering partnerships between civil society, rural producer organizations, and government as well as other resource systems. Over the years, he has led several significant research projects funded by prominent institutions such as the Indian Council for Social Science Research and the Ministry of Science and Technology.

His academic career includes notable leadership positions, including previous roles as Professor and Head of Department at Rajagiri College of Social Sciences, Kochi.

Dr. Joseph is recognized for his contributions to social work education, particularly in applied research and community engagement, and has authored numerous publications on cooperative economic development and social protection initiatives in Kerala. His work continues to influence sustainable development practices and higher education in social work.
