“Kochi: A Palimpsest of Histories and Futures” – International Seminar at Sacred Heart College

The Department of English, in collaboration with the Centre for Research, Sacred Heart College (Autonomous), Thevara, Kochi, is organizing a two-day International Seminar titled “Kochi: A Palimpsest of Histories and Futures” on 22 and 23 January 2026. The seminar aims to foreground Kochi as a resilient cultural crossroads, inviting critical engagement with the city’s layered geographies, histories, and imagined futures—both remembered and repressed. Established in 1944, Sacred Heart College is a premier institution of higher education, ranked 48th in NIRF 2024 and recognised as the best arts and science college in Kerala by The Week and India Today in 2025. The seminar will feature eminent scholars including Prof. P. K. Michael Tharakan, Prof. Pius Malekandathil, Prof. Sarath Menon-Chembottil, and Dr. Sanjay Kumar.
