Arayankavu Paddy Field Visit

The visit to the Arayankavu paddy field on 18 January 2026 offered participants an immersive experience that went beyond a routine agricultural activity. For many, especially those brought up in urban settings, the field visit became an introduction to a way of life deeply rooted in the land. Engaging directly with the soil fostered an understanding of the intrinsic bond between humans, nature, and labour, while also highlighting the humility and dignity associated with manual work. The experience underscored the rural foundation that sustains society. Farming emerged not merely as physical labour, but as a collective practice grounded in teamwork, rhythm, and shared responsibility. The paddy field transformed into a living classroom where social distinctions faded, and collaboration took precedence over differences in background. The day was marked by a strong sense of togetherness. Moments of shared work, laughter, and playful interaction in the mud strengthened community bonds and reinforced the idea that belonging grows through participation. The visit ultimately offered insight into the quiet wisdom of rural life, reminding participants that true progress lies in recognising and honouring our roots in the land. Through this experience, participants found themselves deeply connected—both to the soil and in spirit.
