Workshop on Drug abuse and illicit traffic – Extension Activity

On 26 June 2025, a Workshop on Drug Abuse and Illicit Traffic was conducted at the East Campus to provide students with a comprehensive understanding of the dangers associated with narcotics. The session was professionally facilitated by a team of 3rd Year B.Sc. Psychology students, including Shaun Joseph Joe, Issac Joseph, Maria Rose, and Koottala Ananya Iyer of B.Sc. (Hons) Psychology. This peer-led initiative focused on the psychological and physiological repercussions of substance use, emphasizing the critical distinction between controlled use and chronic abuse.

The program consisted of a series of targeted talks designed to educate the general student body on both the immediate and long-term consequences of drug intake. By highlighting the progression from initial use to the later life impacts of addiction, the facilitators aimed to foster a culture of informed decision-making across the campus. The event successfully raised awareness regarding the social and health-related risks of illicit trafficking, providing students with the necessary knowledge to navigate these challenges responsibly.
