SOMEസാരങ്ങൾ – A Talk with a Stranger

The Age Friendly & Happiness Club organized a unique and engaging programme titled “SOMEസാരങ്ങൾ – A Talk with a Stranger” on 18 and 19 February from 3:30 PM to 5:00 PM at Room No. 139, Main Campus. Designed to promote meaningful interpersonal interaction, emotional openness, and psychological well-being among students, the initiative created a safe and comfortable space for participants to connect with unfamiliar peers and experience the depth of genuine conversation beyond superficial judgments. The programme featured blindfolded conversations, an approach aimed at eliminating visual biases and preconceived notions that often shape interactions. By removing the influence of appearance, students were encouraged to listen actively, express themselves honestly, and build connections grounded in empathy and understanding. Students from both the Main Campus and the Communication Campus participated, receiving a brief orientation on maintaining respect, confidentiality, and openness. Participants were then paired randomly and engaged in guided conversations while blindfolded, fostering a sense of anonymity that enabled many to share their thoughts freely without fear of judgment. Overall, the programme emerged as a thoughtful and impactful initiative, strengthening connections among students while promoting emotional well-being, empathy, and a stronger sense of community on campus.
