Mangrove Momentum

The Department of Environmental Studies, Sacred Heart College (Autonomous), Thevara, organized “Mangrove Momentum” on August 8, 2025, at the nursery of the Kannur Kandal Project in collaboration with the Wildlife Trust of India. The event focused on the theme “Their roots twist through salt and soil, connecting land and water—reminding us that strength lies in adaptation, not resistance.” It aimed to provide participants with a practical understanding of mangrove conservation and their ecological significance. Guided tours and interactive sessions highlighted mangroves’ roles in preventing coastal erosion, mitigating climate impacts, and supporting marine biodiversity. Hands-on demonstrations on seed collection and sapling propagation offered valuable experiential learning. The collaboration with the Wildlife Trust of India enriched the event with expert insights and field-based knowledge. Overall, “Mangrove Momentum” successfully fostered environmental awareness, practical conservation skills, and a deeper appreciation of mangrove ecosystems among participants.
