The Department of Environmental Studies, Sacred Heart College, Thevara, organized an academic extension programme titled “Beneath the Lens and Beyond the Sky” on 13 August 2025 under the Institution’s Innovation Council. The initiative aimed to provide higher secondary students with hands-on exposure to environmental science research techniques. Five students from Bhavan’s Elamakkara School participated. The session featured a demonstration of the Most Probable Number (MPN) analysis, where students learned about microbiological water quality assessment, and a hands-on GIS and Remote Sensing training, where participants collected GPS data, organized it in Excel, and visualized it using Google Earth. The integration of laboratory and geospatial techniques offered a comprehensive learning experience linking theory to practice. The programme fulfilled its objectives by fostering scientific curiosity and environmental awareness among students. It aligned with SDG 4 (Quality Education), SDG 6 (Clean Water and Sanitation), and SDG 13 (Climate Action).
