The Lakeview Envirothon International Conclave – 2025, organized by the Department of Environmental Studies and IQAC of Sacred Heart College (Autonomous), Thevara, was held from July 10 to 12, 2025. The second edition of this global academic event, themed “A Catch-22 of the Anthropocene: Climate Change and the Quest for Survival,” served as a distinguished platform for environmental scholarship, advocacy, and collaboration. Supported by Bharat Petroleum Corporation Ltd. (BPCL) and the Kerala State Biodiversity Board, the conclave successfully united experts, researchers, and students in addressing the multifaceted challenges of climate change and sustainability. The three-day event commenced with an inaugural ceremony led by Dr. Biju Kumar, Vice Chancellor, KUFOS, followed by a keynote address by Prof. Ram Mohan from Illinois Wesleyan University on “Tackling Climate Change and Green Chemistry.” The conclave featured a series of plenary sessions, invited lectures, and 68 research paper presentations across various disciplines. Renowned speakers such as Dr. Mahesh Mohan, Dr. Mariyamma Philip, Dr. Saji Baby, and Dr. Horthing Zimik Vashai enriched the discussions with insights into climate resilience, environmental governance, and sustainable technologies. A sustainable product exhibition and a visual theatre performance further enhanced participant engagement. The second day expanded academic discussions with additional plenary sessions, poster presentations, and inter-institutional networking through a boat cruise and conclave dinner. The final day included a field visit to the Mithradham Renewable Energy Centre, providing participants with hands-on exposure to solar and biogas technologies. The valedictory session, addressed by Dr. Grinson George, Director, CMFRI, emphasized data-driven environmental governance. In continuation of its outreach mission, the Lakeview Envirothon Marathon – “Run for Health, Lakes Our Wealth” was successfully conducted on September 28, 2025, promoting lake conservation and public participation. The conclave reaffirmed Sacred Heart College’s commitment to advancing research, education, and action for a sustainable future.
