Commemorated World Zoonoses Day 2025 by organizing a Poster Designing Competition on 10th July 2025
The Department of Zoology at Sacred Heart College, Thevara, commemorated World Zoonoses Day 2025 by organizing an engaging Poster Designing Competition on 10th July 2025 (Thursday). The event was conducted in the Zoology UG Laboratory from 1:30 PM to 3:30 PM, bringing together creativity and scientific awareness on an important public health issue. World Zoonoses Day, observed annually on July 6th, marks the anniversary of the first successful vaccination against a zoonotic disease. In connection with this global observance, the department aimed to raise awareness about zoonotic diseases—those transmitted from animals to humans—through this innovative and interactive student competition. Students were allowed to participate either individually or in teams of two. Each team was required to register in advance, and chart paper was provided on the spot. Participants were also marked present for the event, encouraging greater involvement. The competition saw enthusiastic participation from 15 undergraduate students team across various disciplines, who creatively depicted themes related to the transmission, prevention, and impact of zoonotic diseases. First prize winner- Akshaya Anilkumar, First sem B. Sc. Physics Second Prize winners - Vaishnavika Kamath and Aksa Shaju, First sem B.Sc. Physics and First sem B A graphic Design respectively Third Prize winner- Sruthi U, 5 sem B. Sc. Zoology The prizes were distributed on 31 July 2025, during Zoology association inauguration.
