B.Sc. (Hons.) Botany – Aided
Course Information
The Honors Programme in Botany is an advanced undergraduate programme designed to provide students with comprehensive knowledge and practical skills in plant sciences. The programme offers an in-depth understanding of various aspects of Botany, including plant diversity, taxonomy, anatomy, physiology, genetics, molecular biology, biotechnology, ecology, phytochemistry, horticulture, and environmental biology.
The curriculum integrates theoretical learning with practical training to develop scientific aptitude, analytical thinking, and research skills among students. Laboratory experiments, field studies, study tours, internships, project work, and hands-on training form integral components of the programme, enabling students to gain real-world exposure and technical expertise.
The programme also emphasizes interdisciplinary learning through minors such as Chemistry, Zoology and other options based on students choice thereby helping students understand the relationship between plants and other systems around us. In addition, students are introduced to modern scientific tools, bioinformatics, and emerging areas of plant science to meet current academic and industrial demands.
The Honors Programme in Botany prepares students for higher education, research, teaching, environmental consultancy, agriculture-based industries, biotechnology sectors, and various government and private sector careers related to plant sciences and biodiversity conservation.
