The department offers a three-year under graduate programme in Zoology of six-semesters with Chemistry and Botany as  complementary subjects. A B.Sc. Zoology student gets in touch with basic research methodology, animal identification and classification including Chordates and Non chordates and training in Environmental biology, Evolution, Zoogeography, Human Physiology, Biochemistry, Developmental biology, Genetics, Microbiology, Immunology, basic Bioinformatics and Biostatistics. Students have the privilege to choose a subject of their choice (Open Course) in the fifth semester in other streams of study to make the spectrum of learning more wide. Project work and field visit/study tour, visit to research institutes, group activity, etc form an integral part of the academic schedule. As part of the curriculum, UG students are also expected to receive a hands-on training in an area of their choice and thus to submit a project report for the completion of the course.
