The Department of Computer Science, Sacred Heart College (Autonomous), Thevara, organised an AICTE Induction Programme titled “Beyond Coding: The Entrepreneurial Edge” on 13 July 2026, from 10:00 AM to 11:30 AM at Fr. Aggaeus Hall.
The programme was organised as part of the department’s induction activities to introduce students to career opportunities beyond conventional technical roles and to foster an entrepreneurial mindset among budding technology professionals.
The session was attended by 70 students of the Department of Computer Science. The programme featured Mr. Sibi Xavier, an alumnus of the BCA batch of the Department of Computer Science, Sacred Heart College, Thevara, and the CEO and Founder of Yours Zeroes and Ones, as the resource person. Drawing from his professional and entrepreneurial journey, he shared valuable insights into transforming technical knowledge into innovative ideas, business opportunities, and successful ventures.
The programme also featured an engaging session by Mr. Pranith Kumar, Business Builder and Marketing Strategist and partner of the resource person. His session highlighted the importance of business development, marketing strategies, effective communication, and understanding customer needs in building and sustaining successful ventures.
The speakers emphasised that success in the technology sector extends beyond programming and technical expertise. Students were encouraged to develop essential skills such as problem-solving, creativity, communication, leadership, teamwork, networking, marketing, and entrepreneurial thinking. Practical experiences and real-world examples shared during the sessions helped students gain a better understanding of the challenges and opportunities associated with entrepreneurship and startup development.
The programme was highly interactive, with students actively participating in discussions, asking questions, and engaging with the resource persons. The interaction provided students with an opportunity to clarify their doubts and gain a realistic perspective on entrepreneurship, emerging career pathways, and the skills required to thrive in the rapidly evolving technology industry.
The programme successfully encouraged students to look beyond traditional employment opportunities and explore entrepreneurship, innovation, and startup development as potential career pathways. The personal experiences shared by the alumnus and the practical insights offered by the speakers made the programme both relevant and inspiring for the participants.
The programme was coordinated by Dr. Christy Jacqueline, Ms. Indu Parvathy, and Ms. Sofel Sebastian, under the guidance of Dr. Cini Kurian, Head of the Department of Computer Science.
