Dr. Giby Kuriakose, Department of Botany has published two papers on pollination biology of some endemic Syzygiums of the Western Ghats. 

1. The paper entitled "Ant pollination of Syzygium occidentale, an endemic tree species of tropical rain forests of the Western Ghats, India" by Giby Kuriakose, P A Sinu and K R Shivanna. This paper has published in a peer reviewed International journal Arthropod-Plant Interactions, Springer publication with impact factor 1.591
2. The second paper entitled "Floral traits predict pollination syndrome in Syzygium species:
a study on four endemic species of the Western Ghats, India" by Giby Kuriakose, P A Sinu and K R Shivanna.  This paper has published in a peer reviewed International journalAustralian Journal of Botany, CSIRO publication with impact factor 1.586 (2015).

Fathima A. BA English (I year) has participated in the FIDE rated International Chess Tournament conducted at Thrissur. She got 5.5 points from 8 rounds and won a third prize in the woman category, with a cash award of Rs. 2000. The win helped her to increase her FIDE rating to 59 points.

Recruitment process:- 

1)    Online tests : The online tests will consist of

combination of aptitude tests. The candidates will have to take the online tests in college, under the concerned college office supervision. Only shortlisted candidates will be invited for pre - placement presentation and subsequent interviews.

2)    Pre – Placement presentation and 1st round of Interview : Based on the test results, the venue for recruitment drive will be fixed. It will either be your college or a common facility in case of group recruitment drives. However, the venue will be communicated and agreed well in advance.

3)    2nd round of interview and Job Offer : Candidates qualifying from the 1st round of interviews will be invited for 2nd round to our Chennai office. Based on performance, job offers will be made.


Requirements :

Instructions for the test

1. The link consists of 3 forms - Test A, Test B and Test C. Each of these links should be right clicked and opened in 3 different tabs. Forms should be filled one by one and submit button should be clicked after completing each of them. The test is incomplete until they get a dialogue box saying ‘YOUR RESPONSE IS RECORDED’ after clicking ‘Submit’.

Ensure that all 3 tests display the message before leaving.

2. Sometimes, while clicking on the submit the page doesn’t load. This usually happens when any of the questions is left unanswered. Hence, the students should to go back and check if they have left any questions unanswered. A group of questions will be highlighted and after completing, they can click on ‘Submit’ again.

4. There are no right or wrong answers. 

5. The candidates can take at most 2 hours to complete the test.

References – A reference check will be done to understand the student better. Hence, they should give phone numbers of professors or anyone (other than parents or relatives) who can give validate their past experience/ achievements.
Arrears if any – Only standing arrears should be entered, not history of arrears.
Since it is a descriptive test, there won't be any necessary for the use of calculators.

In case you have to close the form in the middle of the test due to any interruptions, you have to work on that particular form from the beginning. The test cannot be resumed from the point where you have left. 
Eg: If you have completed the application form and while working on Test A you happen to close the window, you can resume from Test A you don't have to work on the application form again.

7. Preferred Browser: Google Chrome.

Work Integrated Learning Program and Service Desk.

Please find below the overview of the programs, eligibility criteria and the selection process for this season. 

An overview of Work Integrated Learning Program(WASE & WIMS): Wipro Academy of Software Excellence (WASE), is a unique program launched by Wipro in 1995. It offers BCA & B.Sc. students a chance to pursue higher education – M.Tech in Software Engineering in collaboration with one of India’s premiere technical institutes while gaining work experience.

Wipro Infrastructure Management School (WIMS), one of the Work integrated Learning Programs offered by Wipro, aims at preparing fresh BCA and B.Sc. graduates for IT infrastructure Management services. It is an effort where training in Information Technology/System Engineering is offered to the students with practical exposure to the Infrastructure Management Service industry.

These programs register every student for an 8 semester Wipro sponsored M. Tech course (Individual enrolment to M. Tech would be subjected to candidate meeting University eligibility guidelines, only post joining Wipro) with one of the Top Universities. Candidates will get to work on live projects and earn a monthly stipend. Upon successful completion of the M. Tech program, the students will be absorbed as full time employees of Wipro.

As part of its platinum jubilee celebrations, Sacred Heart College Thevara is organizing a Cartoon Conclave, to mark the centenary of Malayalam cartoon. The 3-day conclave scheduled for September 28, 29 and 30, will feature series of programmes including residential camp of 50 selected young cartoonists, live cartoon drawing, honouring renowned cartoonists, exhibitions, interactive sessions and debate on rebuilding post-flood Kerala.  SH School of Communication is coordinating the event.Noted cartoonists, political, social and cultural leaders will participate in the conclave. Those who want to participate in the event should contact the college (0484 2870611) with their personal details and recently drawn cartoon before September.
