Aksam-Elderly Sports meet

The All Kerala Senior Athletics Meet – AKSAM 2026, organized by MAGICS NGO in Kochi, was a state-level sporting event aimed at promoting active ageing and encouraging physical fitness among senior citizens. Held on 8 March 2026 at the Maharajas College Ground under the guidance of the Kochi Municipal Corporation, the programme aligned with the World Health Organization’s Age-Friendly Cities and Communities initiative. The event brought together over 500 participants aged 60 and above from across Kerala, offering an inclusive platform to showcase their strength, resilience, and determination through 19 international-standard athletic events, including races, walks, jumps, relays, throws, and hurdles. Conducted from 6:30 AM to 5:00 PM, the meet also featured wellness activities, free registration, meals, health screenings, and medical camps to ensure participant safety. Fitness demonstrations and motivational sessions further enriched the experience. AKSAM 2026 emphasized that ageing is not a limitation but an opportunity to stay active and engaged, while supporting SDG 3 (Good Health and Well-Being) and SDG 10 (Reduced Inequalities) by fostering healthy lifestyles and inclusivity among senior citizens.
