‘Manassinoppam’ Community Mental Health Mission Promotes Mental Well-being in UBA Villages – Phase II
The Student Wellness Centre of Sacred Heart College (Autonomous), Thevara, launched ‘Manassinoppam’, a Community Mental Health Mission Programme, on 28 September 2026 with the objective of promoting mental health awareness and holistic well-being among communities in the college’s Unnat Bharat Abhiyan (UBA) adopted villages. The initiative was formally flagged off by Principal in Charge Dr. Franklin J. As part of Phase I, a mental health awareness programme was conducted for Kudumbashree members. Phase II, held on 5 October 2026 at Kumbalam Grama Panchayat, was officially inaugurated by Dr. Fr. M. K. Joseph, CMI and conducted for members of the Haritha Karma Sena.
The awareness session was facilitated by Sacred Heart College SDO Mr. Sooraj, Student Counsellor Ms.Deepa Roy, Student Counsellor Ms.Nandhini Maria Mathew, and Ms. Blessiya Benny, with active participation from students of the Departments of Social Work and Psychology. The session focused on stress management, self-care, emotional resilience, early identification of psychological concerns, professional help-seeking, and the importance of reducing stigma associated with mental health.
Kumbalam Grama Panchayat Secretary Ms. Rajeshwari L. attended the programme, and Haritha Karma Sena members participated actively in the session.
