The Department of Computer Science, Sacred Heart College (Autonomous), Thevara, organized an Interdisciplinary Research Colloquium on the theme “Computer Science & Artificial Intelligence at the Interface of Chemistry & Biology” on 13 August 2026, from 1:30 PM to 3:30 PM, at Room No. 305, East Campus.

The session featured Dr. Abi T. G., Associate Professor and Dean of Research, Sacred Heart College, Thevara, as the resource person. He shared valuable insights into the emerging applications of Computer Science and Artificial Intelligence in interdisciplinary research, with particular emphasis on the intersection of Chemistry and Biology.

The colloquium highlighted the potential of computational methods, AI, and data-driven approaches in addressing complex research challenges in the natural sciences. Discussions covered applications such as biological data analysis, chemical research, pattern identification, predictive modelling, and scientific decision-making.

Around 30 participants, including faculty members from the Department of Computer Science and research scholars from the Departments of Botany, Zoology, and Chemistry, attended the programme. The diverse participation provided an engaging platform for academic interaction, knowledge sharing, and exploring possibilities for collaborative research.

The programme emphasized the growing importance of interdisciplinary approaches in contemporary research and encouraged participants to integrate computational technologies with domain-specific scientific research. The event also contributed to the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly SDG 4 – Quality Education and SDG 9 – Industry, Innovation and Infrastructure, by promoting advanced learning, innovation, and technology-driven research.

The programme was coordinated by Dr. Christy Jacqueline and Ms. Jisha Soman, under the guidance of Prof. Cini Kurian, Head, Department of Computer Science, and Dr. C. S. Francis, Vice Principal, Sacred Heart College.
