First Edition Prof. M. V. Varghese & Prof. K. A. Gopalakrishnan Endowment Seminar

The Department of Chemistry, Sacred Heart College (Autonomous), Thevara, is set to organize the first edition of the Prof. M. V. Varghese and Prof. K. A. Gopalakrishnan Endowment Seminar – ChemIgnite 2026 on 28 July 2026 at 11:00 AM in Dr. Manmohan Hall.

The seminar will feature Dr. Raghavan B. Sunoj, Professor of Chemistry, Indian Institute of Technology Bombay (IIT Bombay), as the keynote speaker. Renowned for his contributions to computational and theoretical chemistry, Dr. Sunoj will share valuable insights with students, researchers, and faculty members, fostering scientific curiosity and academic excellence.

Title of the Talk: Learning Organic Chemistry using Some Simple Concepts

ChemIgnite 2026 marks the beginning of a distinguished endowment seminar series instituted in memory of Prof. M. V. Varghese and Prof. K. A. Gopalakrishnan, celebrating their lasting contributions to chemistry education and inspiring future generations of scholars.

The event is being organized under the leadership of Prof. Jinu George, Head of the Department of Chemistry, with the support of the Chemistry Alumni Association, led by Mr. Oommen Thomas, President. The programme is held under the guidance of Fr. Varghese Puthussery CMI, Manager, and Prof. Franklin J., Principal-in-charge.
