The Department of Botany, Sacred Heart College (Autonomous), Thevara, organized a seminar on “Green Thevara Initiative – Converting Urban Spaces into Sustainable Platforms through Social Farming” on 17 July 2025 (Thursday) at 3.30 p.m. in the Botany Seminar Hall. Mr. Philipgi T. Kanatt, Deputy Director of Agriculture (Retd.), State Agriculture Department, Kerala, served as the resource person. A total of 42 students from the department participated in the event. The session intended to create awareness on transforming urban spaces into sustainable green hubs and to encourage student participation in community-based social farming projects. It was also designed to explore academic and research opportunities linked to sustainability initiatives. Through an active interaction with the resource person, the student community gained a clear understanding of how social farming can be integrated into academic and community projects. The session inspired participants to identify potential spaces and collaborations to implement sustainability practices. The event strengthened the department’s commitment to supporting the Green Thevara Initiative. The seminar concluded at 4.30 p.m. with an expression of gratitude to the resource person for his valuable insights and guidance.
