An Alumni Talk on the topic “Introduction to Mental Health: Social Determinants and Self-Coping” was organised by the Department of Botany on 27 October 2025. Mr. Shano Shaji, an alumnus of the department, currently serves as an Assistant Manager at Magic Bus India Foundation. The session aimed to create awareness among students about the importance of mental health and the various social factors that influence it. Shano emphasized the role of community, relationships, and self-awareness in maintaining psychological well-being. He also discussed effective self-coping mechanisms to manage stress and emotional challenges in everyday life.
The talk was highly interactive, with students actively engaging in discussions and sharing their perspectives on mental health challenges faced in academic and personal spheres. The speaker provided practical insights and coping strategies relevant to both students and young professionals.
The event concluded with a Q&A followed by a note of gratitude extended to the speaker for his insightful presentation. The session was informative and thought-provoking, offering valuable takeaways on mental health awareness and personal resilience.
