Kochi: The Student Wellness Centre of Sacred Heart College (Autonomous), Thevara, has launched ‘Manassinoppam’, a Community Health Mission Programme,on 28/09/2026 with the objective of promoting mental health awareness and holistic well-being among communities in the college’s Unnath Bharat Abhiyan (UBA) adopted villages. The initiative was formally flagged off by Principal Prof. Franklin J.

As part of the mission, a Mental Health Awareness Session was conducted at Kumbalam Grama Panchayat by Ms. Deepa Roy, Student Counsellor, Ms. Nandhini Maria Mathew and Dr. Joyshree Mondal, along with students from the Department of Social Work.

The session addressed key aspects of mental health and emotional well-being, including stress management, self-care, emotional resilience, early identification of psychological concerns and the importance of seeking professional support when required. The programme also aimed to create a supportive environment for open conversations about mental health and to reduce the stigma surrounding mental health concerns.

Kumbalam Grama Panchayat President Ms. Raseena Salam, Vice President Mr. Ajith Velakkadavil, CDS Chairperson Ms. Sangeetha, Vice Chairperson Ms. Rani Appukkuttan and Member Secretary Ms. Rajeshwari L. attended the programme. CDS members and Kudumbashree members also participated actively.

The Manassinoppam initiative reflects Sacred Heart College’s commitment to extending its student wellness and community engagement initiatives beyond the campus. Through such programmes, the college seeks to strengthen community-based mental health awareness and encourage a culture of care, support and well-being.
