Webinar on “The Need for Responsible AI in Industry 5.0”
The Department of Computer Science, Sacred Heart College (Autonomous), organised a webinar on “The Need for Responsible AI in Industry 5.0” on 26 July 2026 at Fr. Berchmans Hall, East Campus. The session was led by Prof. Dr. Emerson Raja Joseph, Centre of Advanced Analytics, CoE in Artificial Intelligence, Faculty of Engineering and Technology, Multimedia University, Melaka, Malaysia, and was attended by nearly 300 students.
Prof. Emerson highlighted the growing significance of Responsible Artificial Intelligence in Industry 5.0, emphasising the importance of human judgement, ethics, empathy, and values in the development and use of AI. Through real-world examples and the distinction between knowledge and wisdom, he underscored that AI should support humanity rather than replace it.
The session also explored ethical concerns surrounding autonomous systems, including accountability, transparency, safety, and the need for meaningful human oversight. An interactive Q&A session provided students with an opportunity to engage with the speaker on the future and responsible use of AI.
The programme concluded with a vote of thanks by Dr. Arya Krishnan, Assistant Professor, Department of Computer Science. The webinar offered valuable insights into the responsible development of AI and reinforced the importance of wise and ethical human decision-making in shaping the future of technology.
