In observance of World Wetlands Day, first-year M.Sc. Environmental Science students conducted a mangrove cleaning drive at Nettoor, Ernakulam, on 5 February 2025. The initiative aimed to promote wetland conservation, restore ecosystem health, and raise community awareness. Students actively collected and segregated nearly 50 kg of waste, removing both biodegradable and non-biodegradable materials to support proper disposal and recycling. They also interacted with local residents and fishermen to highlight the ecological importance of wetlands in biodiversity conservation and climate regulation. The programme strengthened student-community collaboration and reinforced the need to protect mangrove ecosystems for future generations.
