RESEARCH AND EXPERTISE
 
Among various investigations undertaken in the Department are food safety of aquatic products, environmenal assessment of aquafarms, market hygiene, contamination of fishes and aquatic products from fish markets of Greater Cochin, salinity tolerance of aquatic organisms for transplantation ,fish feed formulation including better methods of culture of live feed, cold processing of aquatic products including shelf life and identification of pathogens in aquatic products. Marketing of fish and fishery products , preparation of pickles and conserves from aquatic products are also part of the investigation.
