Oriental Language Department is a composite department consisting of Hindi, Malayalam and Sanskrit. There are two teachers in Malayalam, Hindi and one in Sanskrit.
In order to develop the talents of the students, the department runs the Writers' Club and Literary Forum for the study of creative literature. Hindi Section of the department is one of the resource centres for the promotion of the national language in and around Kochi. It has contributed 75 rank holders during the last 18 years in the pre-test examinations conducted by- the Dakshina Bharat Hindi Pracbar Sabha. It is equally involved in the implementation programme of the official language Hindi. Up to 2002 French too was part of Oriental Language Department.
