Department of Physical Education -Estd.1944

The Department of Physical Education is one of the oldest and reputed departments under the M.G. University. It provides infrastructure facilities and training for basket-ball, volleyball, athletics, football, cricket, ball badminton, shuttle badminton, wrestling, judo, table tennis, power lifting, body building etc. For the overall sports achievements in the Mahatma Gandhi University, the college was awarded Malayala Manorama Trophy during 97-98, 99-2000 and 2003-2004.

The department runs a health club, "SHAPE Fitness Centre" for the students and the public. It has been organizing Fr. Bartholomew Memorial Inter-Collegiate Tournaments in Basketball (men & women], Volleyball [men & women], Ball badminton [men] for the past 59 years without any break. 'Promote Fitness' (Profit) is a unique project, which extends the health club facilities to the public as well. Summer coaching camp is a children's programme organized by the department every year.

1. Prof. M.K. Abraham Endowment Award for the outstanding sportsman instituted by the department.
2. Prof. Peter Thomman Endowment Award for the Outstanding sports woman instituted by the department.
3. Awards for the International, National, State & University Winning team members instituted by P.T.A., S.H. College
4. P.T.A. Awards for the members of M.G. University, Kerala State & National team members instituted by P.T.A.
