C P E (College with Potential for Excellence)

Specialties

Everyday the college activities begin with an invocation to Almighty, the Abode of Light and Wisdom.  The entire campus comes to a stand still at that time and the day's work begins in a spiritual ambience.

The aim of all education is the formation of the human person for the fulfillment of his/her individual and social responsibilities.  Conscious of this, the college gives excellent and all-round formation to the students.  The college offers a series of programmes under the aegis of the campus ministry.  The ministry conducts one-day formation programme for the first year students of all the courses every year.  There are inter-religious prayer and talks on character formation as part of this programme.  The parents are also participating in the prayer and separate talks for them are also arranged on this day.  The ministry also conducts talks on value education for the students and renewal programmes for the teaching and non-teaching staff every year.

Classroom cleanliness and beautification are conducted in a competitive spirit.  Every year prizes are distributed for excellence in class cleanliness and beautification.  Students are motivated to maintain a plastic-free campus.  The Nature Club of the college associate with other NGOs to make the city clean and plastic free.  Students also take part in various movements for aforestation, rainwater preservation and other environment friendly activities.

The various talent clubs functioning in the college motivate the students to find and foster various talents that lie dormant in them.  'Heartifest' is a cultural extravaganza conducted every year that gives an opportunity for the students to perform their talents in front of the 'Sacred Heart Family'.  The students are given guidance to participate and excel in University level Youth Festivals and other cultural fests.

The students are encouraged to participate in various community service programmes. Once a while they visit the nearby old age home and share meals with them and also entertain the old and lonely inmates there with cultural programmes.  They also take initiative to collect old clothes and blankets from the college community and distribute them to the needy.

Parents are considered as the integral part of the college family.  `Heartifest' is a cultural evening when the management, staff, students, and parents gather together as a family.  Parents of the students are invited formally once a year to give them an opportunity to meet all the teachers of their wards together.  The progress reports of the terminal examinations are regularly sent to the parents. PTA is very active in the college that meets every month and renders every possible help to the management and teachers for the smooth running of the college.
