BSc Industrial Chemistry

BSc Industrial Chemistry is a six semester (3 years) job oriented degree course with specialization in Petrochemicals, designed and approved by the U.G.C. and recognized by the M.G. University. It is a self-financing vocationalised course introduced from 1997-98, in which the students are given on-the-job training in various industrial institutions in order to equip them for employment as successful chemists. The graduates of Industrial Chemistry can find suitable and attractive placements in various departments of industrial Chemistry like production, quality control, product development, effluent treatment etc. They are also given training in entrepreneurship to become self employed. They will also be eligible for employment in Public Sector Undertakings of chemical and allied industries. As the course is designed to include, the whole Syllabi of BSc Chemistry of M.G. University, the graduates will be eligible to pursue postgraduate, studies in Chemistry. The training in Computer Application, as an optional subject, will be an additional help to the students in whichever field they enter.

Institutions for On- the-job Training : The college has entered into MOU with the FACT, Cochin Refineries Ltd., IRE Udyogamandal, HIL Udyogamandal and H.O.C. Ambalamugal for imparting on-the-job training, and availing guest faculty.

Eligibility : Pass in PlusTwo/Equivalent with science group

Semester I  Industrial Chemistry: 18 papers & 6 practicals
Semester II  General Chemistry: 6 papers & 5 practicals
Semester III  Mathematics: 2 papers
Semester IV  Technical Communication (English): I paper
Semester V  Computer Application: 2 papers (Non evaluate)
Semester VI  Project work
