Congratulations to Dr. Giby Kuriakose, Dept. of Botany
Dr. Giby Kuriakose, Department of Botany has published two papers on pollination biology of some endemic Syzygiums of the Western Ghats. 

1. The paper entitled "Ant pollination of Syzygium occidentale, an endemic tree species of tropical rain forests of the Western Ghats, India" by Giby Kuriakose, P A Sinu and K R Shivanna. This paper has published in a peer reviewed International journal Arthropod-Plant Interactions, Springer publication with impact factor 1.591
2. The second paper entitled "Floral traits predict pollination syndrome in Syzygium species:
a study on four endemic species of the Western Ghats, India" by Giby Kuriakose, P A Sinu and K R Shivanna.  This paper has published in a peer reviewed International journalAustralian Journal of Botany, CSIRO publication with impact factor 1.586 (2015).

Fathima A. Won A Third Place In FIDE Rated International Chess Tournament
Fathima A. BA English (I year) has participated in the FIDE rated International Chess Tournament conducted at Thrissur. She got 5.5 points from 8 rounds and won a third prize in the woman category, with a cash award of Rs. 2000. The win helped her to increase her FIDE rating to 59 points.

Academic Counselling Session 2019-20
The applicants for the UG programmes and their parents are invited for an academic counselling session on 22nd May 2019.

It is often noted that shortly after joining the UG programme, a good number of students realise that the programme they chose was not what they truly wanted to pursue in their academic career. This often leads to lack of motivation and poor performance in academics. Such a situation is often the result of their lack of awareness about the nature and the scope of the programme they have chosen. In order to address this lacuna, the college is facilitating an open academic counselling session for the prospective students/applicants (and their parents) for the various UG programmes offered by the college on 22nd May 2019. During the counselling session, representatives of various department will make a short presentation of the programmes offered by each department; the nature and scope of the programme; the eligibility and the desirable qualities that a student who wishes to take up the programme should possess etc.
